Ok, today Margarita and I went to Little Rock to run some errands. Well, the story actually begins back before Christmas. I went to Target in December to buy some gifts and some batteries, but ran out of time and was in a big hurry. When I got to the check-out counter I realized I had dropped the batteries somewhere. I checked out, but didn’t have time to go back and get any more batteries, so I left.
On the way home something was poking me in my back pocket. You guessed it, I put the batteries in my pocket to free my hands up, not thinking. That means I left the store without paying for them! I accidently stole some batteries! I couldn’t retun at that moment so I went home. The next week I went to Mexico and never went back to Target to pay for the batteries. It has been several weeks, but I was determined to pay for the batteries soon.
On the news this morning I saw that Target’s sales were down 41%. This reminded me that I hadn’t paid for the batteries yet. Their loss was partly my fault!!!
We went to Little Rock this morning and I finally took care of the problem I created. Now, I didn’t want anyone to say, “oh thanks for coming in, but don’t worry about”, nor did I want the checker just to pocket the money so I got the same pack of batteries from Electronics and paid for them up front. I walked out and came back into the store with my sack and the batteries. I headed for Electronics, but it was a weird feeling since no one really knew what was going on. It was like I was stealing something, when actually I was doing the opposite. I put the batteries back on the shelf and left the store with an empty bag! If Target closes now, it won’t be my fault and I feel much better that I’m paid up!
